Evolutionary Astrology

Evolutionary Astrology (EA) is a method of astrological interpretation founded by Jeffrey Wolf Green, that is widely viewed as “astrology for the soul.” It’s based on the belief that we are souls, all individual expressions of a Greater Oneness or Source Energy, and that we have incarnated lifetime and lifetime to understand and experience the fullness of who we truly are.

As souls, we’ve chosen to be embodied in human form to learn, grow, and realize our true potential. Before our souls can return to Source, they must undergo a harrowing journey via the Earth School. The energies of our past (or parallel) lives— along with the lessons we’ve yet to learn— are encoded in the birth chart, offering clues about who we have been and what we still carry within us.

EA focuses closely on Pluto, the Lunar Nodes, and the Nodal Rulers, which reveal the major themes of the soul’s evolutionary journey. EA also accounts for the existence of traumatic experiences, as well as how to heal and be liberated from them, through the placement of Neptune, Uranus, and Chiron.

EA differs from other branches of Western astrology in that it does not ever view a particular placement as “weak” or “challenging,” as some may say about Venus in Aries or Mars in Cancer. Instead, EA recognizes that every planet’s position has a deeper purpose for soul growth. Every placement within the birth chart has layered meanings, none of which are specifically "good" or "bad."
