Embracing the Void: Neptune’s Transit of 29° of Pisces

Neptune in Pisces

Neptune is the planet associated with divine love, spirituality, the unseen realm, endings, escapism, dreams, fantasy, and boundlessness. Neptunian energy is difficult to describe or contain. It is evasive, yet all-encompassing. As a very slow-moving outer planet, Neptune carries significant psychic influence on the collective.

Neptune entered its home sign of Pisces in April 2011, where it has been very slowly transiting over the last 13 years. Finally in mid 2024, Neptune reached the final 29th degree of Pisces, also known as the critical degree or anaretic degree. This is the final degree of the last sign of the zodiac. It is the end point of an entire cycle, which is of great importance.

In 2025, Neptune will dance between 29 degrees of Pisces and the first degrees of Aries. It officially moves into Aries in January 2026.

Neptune’s transit through Pisces can be seen in the increasing popularity of spirituality, wellness modalities, and healing-oriented practices in the mainstream. There has been a rise and resurgence in movements around love, peace, and compassion, as many search for more ideal ways of being. Entertainment, music, and the arts have taken extraordinary leaps with the help of new technologies, especially noting the introduction of virtual reality.

Neptune in Pisces could also be associated with the increasing opioid crisis, growing concern about the quality of the earth’s water and oceans, mass displacement of innocent people, and the stark rise in invisible threats like viruses. The Covid-19 pandemic is without a doubt astrologically linked with Neptune in Pisces, as is the unseen mechanisms behind what was believed to be the cure.

The current state of the world is pushing us toward deeper empathy and a desire for healing. For some, healing has become a necessity. This is also Neptune’s domain.

Simultaneously, many global agendas remain unseen behind the veil, clouded by smoke. Many people are being victimized, while many others are caught in a spell of entertainment’s hypnosis. Some are psychically tapped into what’s happening behind the scenes, while others live immersed in their illusions. And yet the non-dual nature of Pisces teaches us that anything happening outside in the world is also happening within as well.

It is as if we are being pushed toward Spirit. Especially since 2020, we have all faced lessons around surrendering to the Universe in some way. We can become disillusioned, or choose to live in a different dream.

This is all the domain of Neptune.

Culminating at the Critical Degree

In 2024, Neptune is approaching the end of its journey through Pisces, reaching the critical degree of 29°. In astrology, the 29th degree of any sign, also known as the anaretic degree, is considered a boiling point, where the sign’s themes become intensified. Any unresolved issues related to that sign will come to the surface for resolution at 29 degrees.

As Neptune transits the critical 29th Pisces- an area that, once finished, it will not return to in this lifetime- we are invited to reflect on how any themes around healing, surrender, illusion, fantasy, love, or divine trust are emerging for us to see.

This transit could manifest as a highly spiritual time, a major letting go, a significant lesson in forgiveness, or in experiences of delirium, fantasy, and escapism. It will be different depending on your context, conscious awareness, karma, choices, and how this transit is specifically working with your birth chart.

In any case, this period is ultimately an opportunity to surrender to the Universe, spiritualize your lifestyle, and let go of what is now complete.

Dates of the 29° Pisces Transit

Neptune first reached 29° of Pisces on May 3, 2024. Moving very slowly, it progressed to 29°55' of Pisces before turning retrograde on July 2, 2024. It will move back to 28° of Pisces by September 3rd as it completes its retrograde phase.

On March 4, 2025, Neptune will again return to 29° Pisces until it enters Aries on March 30, 2025, marking its first ingress into Aries since 1875.

Later in 2025, Neptune will have another retrograde and reenter Pisces on October 22, 2025 for one last dance at 29°, before finally crossing into 0° Aries on January 26, 2026.

Lessons in Surrender, Trust, and Letting Go

29° of Pisces is the final degree of the last sign of the zodiac, marking the end of an entire cycle through the zodiac wheel. This degree is like entering a void or being behind the veil. It’s like the last darkness before dawn of Aries which begins a new cycle.

Neptune crossing this point could be like the undertow of life washing things away, or bringing them back to shore. It could have profound spiritual implications, and launch people into circumstances of existential trust, divine love, miracles, and healing.

However on the other side, it could manifest as loss, dissolution, and endings. The Neptunian ocean is a force beyond our control, and we might be forced to release our grasp as something in our lives goes back out to sea.

Neptune’s tendency to cloud reality and obfuscate the details could cause a disturbing level of confusion for some. The discomfort of being held in this place could heighten tendencies towards escapism or fantasy for those who wish to avoid confronting what they’re being urged to see.

In any case, Neptune’s transit of 29° of Pisces is calling us to surrender to the vast, mysterious void, where nothing is guaranteed. The Pisces ocean holds the potential for profound healing but can also leave us feeling completely lost, adrift without any sense of anchoring or direction.

Those who are tapped into this transit— whether through their personal experiences or in how it’s influencing their natal planets-- can embrace the potential of this moment by cultivating greater trust in the mystery of life, surrendering to a power greater than themselves, and finding forgiveness and compassion. Neptune’s dance at 29° Pisces is inviting us to go deeper into our healing, dare to peer beyond the veil, and acknowledging the significant changes and endings that are occurring within the human collective as a whole.

Once in a Lifetime

Neptune takes about 165 years to complete its orbit around the Sun, spending approximately 14-15 years in each zodiac sign. Within a human lifespan, Neptune will pass through only a limited number of signs. It’s important for us to recognizing how special it is to be alive during Neptune’s transit through its home sign of Pisces.

From a spiritual perspective, and with the belief that our souls choose their incarnations, we can take comfort and be encouraged in knowing that our souls wanted us to be here to learn, grow, heal, and participate in this unique moment in humanity's evolution.

Knowing that we chose this lifetime, we can surrender to this moment fully, and embrace its opportunities and challenges with trust in the larger process at play. And above all, we can have compassion for ourselves for whatever it is that we are going through and letting go of in this time.
